Plitvice lakes are the most famous Croatian national park, inscribed in the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. There are 16 small lakes on the area of the park connected by travertine waterfalls. The area of the park stretches from the source of the river Korana and it is covered with beech and fir forests and numerous meadows. There are many animals such as brown bear, wolf and lynx.
