Opatija, often called Croatian Nica is a town with the longest tradition in tourism on the eastern side of the Adriatic. It is situated in the foothill of Uèka, a natural barrier which holds moisture and precipitation brought by western winds so this town has more sunshine hours per year and lower annual rainfall than for example the town of Rijeka. Good position, climate advantages, groomed parks, promenade – Lungomare which connects the towns of the Riviera, nice villas and hotels and year round offer make this town one of the most prestigious holiday destinations in Croatia. Built way back at the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century Opatija kept its charm and harmony with nature even today.
