 Pag is the biggest island of the Croatian Adriatic (284 sq km and length of 60 km).From the mainland it is separated by narrow Velebit canal. Majority of the island is bare and rocky and covered by short grass. The highest peak of the island is St.Vid, (348m).
In the valleys wine grapes, olives, fruit and vegetables are grown. Also, people live from sheep husbandry, fishing and salt picking. On the island there are 8000 residents and the main administrative centre is the town of Pag which was built in the 15th century. |
